This form of molding operation permits economies of scope.

Inner Mold

Each Trout module uses two shielded piezo-plastic hydrophones in a differential pair. Shown here is the innermost molding. At this stage of production, the module is already completely waterproof to in excess of 100 meters. Acoustic/vibrational insulators at the end of the hydrophones keep bulge waves and TBL noise associated with the electromechanical cable out of the hydrophones.  Internal carbon fibre stress isolators prevent dilitational and extensional wave induced noises.

The production of a one kilometer long Trout towed hydrophone array requires a manufacturing space roughly equivalent to a standard four car garage - not acres of expensive real estate!  Fancy offices with chandeliers, aquariums, and indoor tropical garden atriums may be nice to visit, but they don't contribute anything to YOUR operation or bottom line.

Low temperture molding processes retains the accuracy and low noise of the encapsulated electronics.

Hydrodynamic Housing

The outer molding operation forms the hydrodynamically shaped Trout module.  The module shape has been carefully designed to minimize turbulent boundary layer pressures near the hydrophone surfaces.
